Grand Haven Floors
Garage Floor Coatings for Grand Haven, MI
Pier days bring beach sand home. Lake-effect winters add slush and road salt. Our three-layer concrete coating gives Grand Haven garages and boat storage spaces a sealed surface made for both.
Epoxy Flooring That Fits Grand Haven's Lakeshore Routine
Fine beach sand rides back from the pier, grit settles around stored lake gear, and lake-effect snow turns Grand Haven garages into wet parking bays. Bare concrete holds debris in pores and cracks. A sealed garage floor coating gives brooms and squeegees a continuous surface to cross.
Cottage garages and boat storage floors change jobs with the season. Summer brings dock supplies, bikes, and trailer gear. Winter brings vehicles, snowmelt, and tools. We build for both with a hybrid epoxy/polyurea base coat, full flake broadcast to refusal, and UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. The epoxy stays protected below the wear surface.

Why Surface Prep Matters on Sandy Lakeshore Property
Sandy surroundings make cleaning important, but soil outside does not show whether concrete is ready to coat. We inspect the slab itself. Paint, pitting, cracks, and moisture clues shape its preparation plan.
Our concrete grinding service mechanically opens the surface and removes weak material. Acid etching is not part of our process. We address damage, then clear dust and grit so the base coat bonds to concrete rather than contamination.
- Diamond grinding profiles the slab instead of merely washing its surface
- Repairs happen before decorative flake covers the original concrete
- Visible condition and use determine the slab's prep plan

A Three-Layer Concrete Coating for Boat Storage Floors
Trailer tires, stands, hand tools, sandy footwear, and seasonal rearranging concentrate wear across a boat storage floor. Full flake coverage builds texture and visual depth, so the space looks finished while working hard.
The wear surface is a UV-stable polyaspartic coating because doors may stay open during loading and summer projects. Below it, flake shields the hybrid base. Each coat receives proper cure time instead of a compressed schedule.

What About a Damp Cottage Slab?
Surface dampness, tracked-in water, and moisture moving through concrete are different problems. We inspect the slab before recommending a system. Covering a questionable cottage floor without that check can conceal the real issue.
When inspection shows vapor concerns, moisture barrier epoxy may be appropriate. For rain, snowmelt, or wet gear entering through the door, priorities shift to a continuous topcoat, included traction, and prompt sand cleanup.

What a Lakeshore Garage Floor Needs to Handle
Grand Haven puts abrasive grit, meltwater, and doorway sun on one slab.
Beach Sand Cleans Up Faster
A flake surface closes bare concrete pores, leaving fewer places for shoreline grit to settle.
Winter Mess Stays on Top
Snowmelt and road residue stay on the sealed wear layer for cleanup instead of soaking into concrete.
Open-Door UV Protection
The polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable, so the finish resists the yellowing that can affect exposed epoxy near a sunny garage opening.
Ready for Seasonal Storage
The floor suits lake equipment and trailer accessories in summer, then vehicles and tools in winter.
Traction Comes Standard
Free anti-slip additive helps when wet tires and snowy boots share the space.
How We Build a Grand Haven Floor
The installation follows six deliberate steps, from mechanical grinding and repairs through the final walkthrough. Cure time between coats is part of the build.
1Grind & Prepare
We diamond-grind the concrete to a clean, porous profile so the coating bonds permanently.
2Repair & Clean
Cracks, pits, and spalls are filled and leveled, then industrial vacuums pull off every trace of dust.
3Hybrid Base Coat
A pigmented polyurea/epoxy blend is rolled and back-rolled into the prepped slab for full coverage.
4Broadcast the Flake
Your chosen flake blend is hand-broadcast to full refusal while the base is wet.
5Polyaspartic Topcoat
A UV-stable topcoat locks the system in — scratch resistant, chemical resistant, easy to clean.
6Final Walkthrough
We inspect every square foot with you and hand over a floor that's ready to live on for years.
Grand Haven Coating Questions
How much does a garage floor coating cost in Grand Haven, MI?
Floor size, concrete condition, repairs, stairs, and stem walls determine price. A sound cottage garage and worn boat storage slab need different estimates. High Caliber provides a free quote for the actual space.
Will beach sand scratch an epoxy garage floor?
Sand is abrasive, so sweeping or rinsing it away protects any finish. Our epoxy sits beneath full flake and a polyaspartic wear coat, a better arrangement for Grand Haven grit than exposed epoxy.
Can you coat a garage used for boat and trailer storage?
Yes. Boat gear, trailer accessories, tools, and seasonal storage suit a properly prepared flake system. We inspect the slab and discuss how the room is loaded before specifying repairs.
Does polyaspartic flooring handle Grand Haven winters?
The UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat forms the wear surface over flake and the hybrid base. Snowmelt stays above that sealed layer for cleanup, while free anti-slip additive helps under wet boots.
How long before I can use my coated garage?
Timing depends on the coating stage and site conditions. We provide specific foot-traffic, storage, and vehicle instructions. High Caliber does not shorten required cure periods to advertise faster turnaround.

Google ReviewsWould highly recommend. No pressure sales, quality product, great communication and quality installation. I met Jeff at the home show. I was drawn into his booth by his very enthusiast kids. I got the immediate impression this was a family oriented business and that was reinforced by the conversation with both Jeff and his young son. These values drew me to this business. I signed up for a quote. Shortly after the show Jeff came to my home to present options and provide a quote. No pressure to buy, Jeff understood I needed to get thru tax season before I could be sure about my budget. Over the course of next few months Jeff was responsive to any questions I had and we got the job scheduled. Jeff provided a trailer in the quote to store contents of garage while job was being done, which was very helpful. When talking with others about the quote I learned my price was equal to or less than what neighbors had paid up to six years ago, so I felt this was good pricing. I had thought there would be a ton of dust and a big mess when grinding surface, but the machines had a vacuum attached, clean and efficient work. I was impressed that they coated steps and side walls as well as floor. No mess on drywall or driveway. Crew doing installation were great guys. They took time to fill me in on the process of installation, what to expect, how long for surface to cure and when I could empty trailer. Post install Jeff stopped out to grab trailer, filled me in on what to use and how to clean the floor. VERY happy with the whole process from sales to install to follow up. LOVE my new garage.
I can not express how awesome my garage floor looks. Your crew did a phenomenal job, we'll probably be the envy of the neighborhood now. Very polite, cleaned up the area, fast amazing job! My only complaint was the floor was going to look great so my wife said we had to clean out and paint all the walls and shelving, but it was worth it. Thank you again.
Wow! Jeff and Mike were amazing to partner with for my garage floor renovation! They did an amazing job but more importantly, they communicated directly with me thru texts, reminders, and in person! Jeff and his team left my garage and exterior area cleaner than when they arrived and gave clear instructions on follow up care needed for my new floor! I would highly recommend High Caliber Concrete Coatings anytime!
The floor looks awesome. What an improvement !!! The installers where also top notch. Communicated the plans and details clearly.
Jeff and his crew did an awesome job. Jeff was very prompt with his quote, his timeliness of service and his responses back to any questions I had. The closed trailer Jeff offers for use for garage contents during the work was such a great idea. It made my prep work and garage reload minimal. Jeff's workcrew was timely, hard working and very, very polite. Their clean up work was super! I did not have to do anything but reload my contents. I am beyond happy with the finished project and would recommend High Caliber for a successful experience!! I love that they are a local business and support their exceptional work ethic and results!
Jeff and his team did the most amazing job epoxy floor coating my 38 year old garage floor. Outstanding, professional, skilled, great communication. Highly recommended.
