Garage Floor Coatings and Epoxy Flooring in Jenison, MI
Turn a hard-working family garage or tired basement slab into a sealed surface built for Michigan salt, snowmelt, and everyday traffic. Our Zeeland shop is about 15 minutes from Jenison.
A Better Floor for Jenison Garages and Basements
Many Jenison homes sit in the 1980s and 1990s subdivisions that shaped this part of Georgetown Township. Their garages have had decades of hot tires, road salt, oil drips, and winter slush. The concrete may still be sound, but stained areas, shallow pits, worn patches, and old cracks tell us what the slab needs before a coating can bond.
High Caliber builds each garage floor coating as a three-layer hybrid system. A hybrid epoxy/polyurea base grips mechanically prepared concrete, a full flake broadcast covers that base to refusal, and a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat becomes the wear surface. Epoxy belongs underneath because direct sunlight can yellow it. Polyaspartic belongs on top where open garage doors, tires, tools, and cleanup put the floor to work.
We are a local, family-owned and fully insured contractor based at 11007 Chicago Drive in Zeeland. That short drive to Jenison keeps estimates and project scheduling close to home, while our 5.0 Google rating across 136+ reviews shows how seriously we take preparation and finish quality.

Why Slabs From the 1980s and 1990s Need Real Preparation
Age alone does not disqualify a Jenison garage floor. Surface condition matters more. We look for previous paint, oil contamination, pitting near the door, cracks through traffic lanes, and weak concrete at the edges. Repairs are completed before coating, then mechanical diamond grinding opens the slab so the base coat can key into concrete instead of resting on a smooth surface.
DIY epoxy often fails where preparation stops at cleaning. Unground concrete offers a poor foothold, and a hot tire can lift a thin coating that never formed a mechanical bond. Our concrete grinding service removes weak material and creates the profile needed for the hybrid base. On a Jenison slab, the grinder's job ends before the hybrid system's first layer begins.
- Existing cracks and pits are identified before color selection
- Old coatings and weak surface material are mechanically removed
- Full flake broadcast helps disguise the visual history of an older slab

Basement Epoxy Starts With the Moisture Question
Jenison basements serve as playrooms, laundry areas, storage zones, and finished family space. That mix calls for a floor that cleans easily, but a coating cannot be chosen from appearance alone. Concrete moisture and the condition of the slab have to be evaluated before we decide how the system should be built.
When readings show that vapor control belongs in the specification, our basement floor epoxy approach addresses it below the decorative finish. The result can still use a practical flake blend and sealed topcoat, but the base is selected for the actual slab rather than treating every basement like a dry garage.

One Local Service Area, Three Close Communities
Jenison shares daily routines, housing patterns, and contractor routes with nearby communities. Homeowners comparing garage floor coatings in Hudsonville will see many of the same concerns around newer suburban garages and winter vehicle traffic. Just across the local boundary, our work on concrete coatings in Georgetown Township includes garages and exterior concrete needs across the broader township area.
For the exposed wear layer, we specify a polyaspartic floor coating over the flake broadcast. It resists UV discoloration better than exposed epoxy and protects the color blend when the garage door stays open. The free fixed, itemized quote explains the preparation, repairs, system, and surfaces included before work begins.
What Jenison Family Floors Need to Handle
The best coating choice starts with how the room is actually used, not with a color chip.
Two-Car-Garage Traffic
The flake and topcoat take tire turns, rolling storage, dropped sports gear, and the daily shuffle around parked vehicles without leaving porous concrete exposed.
Winter Mess Contained
A seamless topcoat keeps salty snowmelt on the surface, where it can be squeegeed or mopped instead of soaking into an aging slab.
Basements Checked First
Below-grade concrete can move moisture differently than a garage. We inspect the slab before recommending a standard system or a moisture-control approach.
Traction at No Extra Cost
Anti-slip additive is included in the topcoat, giving wet shoes more grip without turning the finished floor into a rough cleaning chore.
Cure Time Respected
Each coat gets the time it needs before the next stage begins. A family garage deserves a bond built patiently, not a schedule compressed for speed.
How We Build a Jenison Concrete Coating
Inspection, repairs, diamond grinding, hybrid base coat, full flake broadcast, and polyaspartic topcoat happen in order, with proper cure time between coats.
1Grind & Prepare
We diamond-grind the concrete to a clean, porous profile so the coating bonds permanently.
2Repair & Clean
Cracks, pits, and spalls are filled and leveled, then industrial vacuums pull off every trace of dust.
3Hybrid Base Coat
A pigmented polyurea/epoxy blend is rolled and back-rolled into the prepped slab for full coverage.
4Broadcast the Flake
Your chosen flake blend is hand-broadcast to full refusal while the base is wet.
5Polyaspartic Topcoat
A UV-stable topcoat locks the system in — scratch resistant, chemical resistant, easy to clean.
6Final Walkthrough
We inspect every square foot with you and hand over a floor that's ready to live on for years.
Jenison Coating Questions
How much does a garage floor coating cost in Jenison, MI?
The final price depends on square footage, concrete condition, crack and pit repairs, and whether stairs or vertical edges are included. High Caliber inspects the slab and provides a free fixed, itemized quote, so you can see what preparation and coating work your garage requires.
Can you coat the garage floor in an older Jenison home?
Usually, yes. Concrete from an established 1980s or 1990s subdivision may need crack repair, pit filling, or removal of an old coating first. We evaluate those conditions and diamond-grind the usable slab before applying the hybrid base.
Is epoxy flooring a good choice for a Jenison basement?
It can be, after the slab is checked for moisture and surface problems. A basement with vapor concerns may need a moisture-control base beneath the decorative flake and sealed topcoat. We recommend the build from what the concrete shows, not from the room label.
Will road salt damage a coated garage floor?
The UV-stable polyaspartic wear surface is designed to keep salty snowmelt from soaking into the concrete. Routine squeegeeing and cleaning remove the residue, while the included traction additive helps when the floor is wet.
Why use polyaspartic over epoxy in a garage?
Epoxy makes a strong base, but it can yellow when exposed to sunlight. Polyaspartic is better suited to the top wear layer because it stays UV stable and takes the direct traffic. The full flake broadcast sits between those two coating layers.

Google ReviewsWould highly recommend. No pressure sales, quality product, great communication and quality installation. I met Jeff at the home show. I was drawn into his booth by his very enthusiast kids. I got the immediate impression this was a family oriented business and that was reinforced by the conversation with both Jeff and his young son. These values drew me to this business. I signed up for a quote. Shortly after the show Jeff came to my home to present options and provide a quote. No pressure to buy, Jeff understood I needed to get thru tax season before I could be sure about my budget. Over the course of next few months Jeff was responsive to any questions I had and we got the job scheduled. Jeff provided a trailer in the quote to store contents of garage while job was being done, which was very helpful. When talking with others about the quote I learned my price was equal to or less than what neighbors had paid up to six years ago, so I felt this was good pricing. I had thought there would be a ton of dust and a big mess when grinding surface, but the machines had a vacuum attached, clean and efficient work. I was impressed that they coated steps and side walls as well as floor. No mess on drywall or driveway. Crew doing installation were great guys. They took time to fill me in on the process of installation, what to expect, how long for surface to cure and when I could empty trailer. Post install Jeff stopped out to grab trailer, filled me in on what to use and how to clean the floor. VERY happy with the whole process from sales to install to follow up. LOVE my new garage.
I can not express how awesome my garage floor looks. Your crew did a phenomenal job, we'll probably be the envy of the neighborhood now. Very polite, cleaned up the area, fast amazing job! My only complaint was the floor was going to look great so my wife said we had to clean out and paint all the walls and shelving, but it was worth it. Thank you again.
Wow! Jeff and Mike were amazing to partner with for my garage floor renovation! They did an amazing job but more importantly, they communicated directly with me thru texts, reminders, and in person! Jeff and his team left my garage and exterior area cleaner than when they arrived and gave clear instructions on follow up care needed for my new floor! I would highly recommend High Caliber Concrete Coatings anytime!
The floor looks awesome. What an improvement !!! The installers where also top notch. Communicated the plans and details clearly.
Jeff and his crew did an awesome job. Jeff was very prompt with his quote, his timeliness of service and his responses back to any questions I had. The closed trailer Jeff offers for use for garage contents during the work was such a great idea. It made my prep work and garage reload minimal. Jeff's workcrew was timely, hard working and very, very polite. Their clean up work was super! I did not have to do anything but reload my contents. I am beyond happy with the finished project and would recommend High Caliber for a successful experience!! I love that they are a local business and support their exceptional work ethic and results!
Jeff and his team did the most amazing job epoxy floor coating my 38 year old garage floor. Outstanding, professional, skilled, great communication. Highly recommended.
